Read on for our exclusive Q&A with Hayek herself! This is a role where you play a bearded lady. Is it nice to play with your image like that? SALMA HAYEK: Oh yes. It’s not even the first time I’ve worn a beard. I did a movie called 'After The Sunset' with Pierce Brosnan and in the beginning of that film I am disguised as a homeless guy and I have the beard and everything. I love it, and in 'Frida' I had the one brow and in 'From Dusk Till Dawn' I turn into a monster. I’m familiar with the transformation. But why personally do you like it. Everyone sees you as such a beautiful actress. Do you like to not show your beauty as much? SALMA: No. It’s been a coincidence. I loved the script and it was the perfect movie for me to do at the time because I had stopped working for a long time and I just had my baby and I did not want a lot of responsibility. The part is not that big, but its great and it’s juicy and it’s exciting, and I loved the people in the movies and I want to be around them. I love John C Reilly and it had a great director. I love what the movie is about and what it says. It just so happens that I get to wear a beard. Was the beard CGI or did you actually wear one? SALMA: I did have to wear it and then a lot of the movement was CGI. ![]() You play a psychic. Would you ever see a psychic? Do you feel you are psychic at all? SALMA: I don’t see psychics but I think we all have a little bit of psychic powers. It’s very funny her abilities, because she is not even there when she is doing it so she doesn’t even remember it, so it’s useless unless somebody tells her what she says. But what I think every woman will identify with is the fact that sometimes we know what’s better for our men. You don’t have to be a big psychic. You can just see them when they are about to get into trouble. We have an ability to know it, to sense it, to see it before them. We tell them and they don’t listen to us and I think that’s the case with Madame Truska, and I think women will identify with that quality that she has. You’re a mum now. How has that changed your working life? SALMA: Everything, all the choices that you make. My family is my number one priority. I am very lucky that I have a very supportive family that adjusts to my schedule and love what I do and I’m busy, but still there are a lot of things to take into consideration.
