The countdown to WE CAN CREATE is well underway with only three days left until Auckland gets injected with a whole lot of talent. To turn my excitement into something productive, I've picked out my most-anticipated speakers and side-events of We Can Create 2011.

"It's an annual celebration of all things art and design - graphics, fashion, animation, illustration, motion graphics, typography, sound design, live audio-visual art, interactive and experiential marketing, fine art, music, product design and more."

IMAGINARY FORCES
Karin Fong is taking the stage to talk about - possibly my favorite part of movie production - the opening title sequence. Karin has worked on sequences for Charlotte's Web, (500) Days of Summer, Ray and Going The Distance!

THE RUMPUS ROOM
Burning skateboarders, creating online choirs, and revolutionising traditional marketing structures with M.A.C cosmetics, the Rumpus Room are guilty of creating some of the most inventive online campaigns we've seen for some of our favourite brands. Not only that, their sister company is New Zealand's very own 'The Sweet Shop.'

SARA BLAKE
She's worked with Nike, Marc Jacobs,TED and more. But her industry experience isn't the only thing I'm excited to hear about. Sara is one of the rare illustrators who works in a mix of hand-drawn and digital media, her works are the perfect balance of organic and polished... and her tattoos are RAD and she has a black cat. Can I be her when I grow up?

WE CAN CREATE - SIDE EVENTS

HORT - At $650 per session the Hort workshops were a little out of my price range but oh how much I would love to be there. The fee buys you two days with Hort studio founder, Eike Koenig and focus on any design discipline. The workshops enable industry creatives to "revitalize their creativity." If you managed to score a spot in one of Eike's workshops, please let us know what you learnt!

CREATIVE COALITION - Described as "an instructional-based collective creative happening", Creative Coalition "exists to further the cohesiveness, promotion, communication and influence of the arts, culture and creative sectors in Auckland". Featuring Graveyard Love, Mark Harvey, Karl Sheridan, Becca Wood, Undrawing and  more… Guests are requested to wear black.

FOXES - A New Zealand born design market, Foxes promises quality, craftsmanship and uniqueness. The market will feature a myriad of young creatives, including Cara C, Luu, Bliss In A Teacup, Bunny Suit and heaps more. You can check it out on Saturday 27th of August from 12 noon.

Tickets are still available but you best be in quick! Click HERE for details!

P.S. Sara Blake's mini show is on tonight at Alleluyah Cafe in St. Kevins Arcade from 5-7PM - I seriously suggest you check it out!
