Written, produced and directed by British film-maker Christopher Nolan ('MOMENTO', 'BATMAN BEGINS', 'THE PRESTIGE' AND 'THE DARK KNIGHT'), 'INCEPTION' is possibly one of the most need-to-see movies of the year. A big-budget contemporary science-fiction-action-thriller with an A-list cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, Ken Watanabe and Michael Caine. Forgive me, make that "Sir" Michael Caine. Yes, that's better.
Get your brain around this. Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is essentially a thief - the best there is when it comes to stealing secrets and information alike from the subconscious, while one's in a dream state. They say this is when the mind's most vulnerable. Who am I to disagree?
I'm double-jointed (I just want to put it out there). However, obviously with special talent like THIS, Cobb's rare ability is much sought after in the world of "corporate espionage" that's set in the movie. But hello double edged sword! It's this ability that has also made him an international fugitive and has cost him everything he has ever loved.
Now he's been offered a chance at redemption. Cue Bob Marley. Cobb's been given one last job which, if he succeeds, could give him his life back. Of course this means mission impossible. Inception. Instead of doing his usual thing, he must now do the opposite. His job it not to extract and steal from a person's subconscious - but rather, to plant an ideal.
Should he complete this task, it would be the perfect crime.
Are you still with me??? If not, then just know that this film is set "within the architecture of the mind" - Christopher Nolan (Director).
"It was like some incredible torture device; we thrashed Joseph for weeks, but in the end we looked at the footage, and it looks unlike anything any of us has seen before. The rhythm of it is unique, and when you watch it, even if you know how it was done, it confuses your perceptions. It's unsettling in a wonderful way". - Christopher Nolan, Director. The movie will be released with an IMAX version at the same time and aside from the impressive special effects, I'm sure the quality of acting will be just as impressive! Safe to say, 'INCEPTION' will blow your mind!
Not only is the whole storyline buzzy, there's a whole lot of buzz-tastic effects in the movie too, such as giant rotating hallways, plus a huge tilting nightclub! Actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt (whose role was originally given to James Franco but due to his scheduling conflicts, couldn't play the part) experienced it hands on, spending several weeks learning to fight in a corridor that spun like a giant wheel.
