![]() UNCLE BOONMEE WHO CAN RECALL HIS PAST LIVES Thailand/UK/Germany/France/Spain 2010 | 114 minutes DIRECTOR: Apichatpong Weerasethakul. CAST: Thanapat Saisaymar, Jenjira Pongpas, Sakda Kaewbuadee, Natthakarn Aphaiwonk. "Last year's Cannes jury, headed by Tim Burton, delighted cinephiles, perplexed industry mavens and surprised everybody by awarding the film world's most prestigious prize to Thai director Apichatpong Weerasethakul (aka Joe) and his mysterious, playful evocation of reincarnation and the transmigration of spirits. His film is a true original, a gentle, constantly surprising trip through the mind of a man at the end of his life. Uncle Boonmee spends his final days surrounded by loved ones in the lush Thai countryside. He's visited by the ghosts of his deceased wife and long-lost son. And trekking through the jungle to visit a remote hilltop cave, he sees previous lives pass before him. Movies are ghosts too, and Apichatpong evokes the passage of film history as he shifts style from one reel of the movie to the next. If ever a film were made to be seen on film alone - sparkle, abrasions, slipping focus and all – this is it." Click HERE for more details on 'Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives'.
