![]() LENNONYC USA | 2010 | 115 minutes DIRECTOR: Michael Epstein. CAST: John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Roy Cicala, Jack Douglas, Dennis Elsas, Bob Gruen, Tom Hayden, Adam Ippolito, Jonas Mekas, Andy Newmark, Earl Slick, Gary Van Scyoc. "The long-haired peacenik whom US Immigration fought for years to deport is the subject of the latest in the estimable American Masters series. LennoNYC celebrates John Lennon’s love affair with New York City, from his arrival there with wife Yoko Ono in 1971 until his murder in 1980. Interviewing associates, drawing on rare footage and mining much larky recording-studio between-takes chat, Michael Epstein fleshes out a portrait of a man finally at liberty to push the limits of personal freedom and reinvent himself as a musician. With Double Fantasy posited as its bright endpoint, this is clearly a Yoko-approved project: the pay-off for Epstein is the vividness of her version of the dark days that preceded it. Any encounter with John Lennon is bound to quicken your pulse, and this is a sweet one." Click HERE for more details on 'LennoNYC'.
