![]() If you're a bit of a wuss like I am, then 'ORPHAN' will no doubt freak you out. Not only does it have some of those cliché scary bits (person popping out from behind a closed door, etc.), but it's actually rather disturbing. Opening scene was pretty gross. Although any kind of pregnancy/labour scene is gross. This one had too many disgusting sound effects. ![]() Was very impressed by the acting, particularly by the children in the movie. The youngest girl, 'Max', was adorable and played the role of a deaf child really well. Esther, the orphan, was very well portrayed by Isabelle Fuhrman and she really nailed her character in the final scenes, where more is revealed about her. ![]() Maybe I didn't pay enough attention in the trailer (sounds like something I'd do)... but some of the plot turns I just did not see coming. So I was constantly being shocked, disturbed or afraid by the content. ![]() I'm a sucker for a scary movie, so overall I thought it was really well done. It didn't contain any bad effects that made it look unrealistic, the acting was done well, and there were surprising plot turns. All of this made for a good movie. Having said this, it's the kind of movie that only people would enjoy if they had liked 'The Ring', 'The Grudge' & Co. 7/10 ![]() |
