ROSE MATAFEO - the proclaimed wunderkid of New Zealand comedy - brings to the stage her first ever solo, hour-long show. After last years Coup De Main favourite 'Heidi & Rose: A Guide To The Uncool', the younger and taller half of the duo has stepped out on stage by herself, to showcase her own unique voice.

'Life Lessons I've Learnt From The 60's' introduces an impeccably dressed Rose with a strikingly bizarre opening segment, which may lead you think you've missed some fine print in the shows description. But the weirdness is hilarious, and the fact that Rose was no way near to being alive when the 60's actually happened, means the off-kilter view of her favourite decade is that much more entertaining. As well as being (mostly) factually accurate, it's the imagination of a thoroughly modern girl who believes she was born in the wrong decade, that is the most educational, and enjoyable, part of the show.

Rose guides the audience through a generation that is, according to her, defined purely by the entertainment it created. There's no need to talk about JFK or the moon landing, when there's the golden age of television and sweetly delivered, yet horribly offensive, music to enjoy.

An incredibly gifted performer, Rose delivers an hour of constant laughs while jumping between cute nostalgia and caustic take-downs. The most impressive aspect of Rose's on-stage persona is her ability to throw out genuinely dark ideas, normally with a casual nonchalance, that take awhile to hit you because she never loses her endearing nice-girl presence. The bizarreness that opens the show never strays too far, and you are rewarded with a style of comedy that is surprising, quick-witted, and always hilarious.

Life Lessons
is a fantastic hour of comedy that introduces Rose as a genuine comic talent. The show was a blast, and Rose Matafeo is an absolute gas. See - lessons from the 60's have totally been learned.
