'NEW ZEALAND'S NEXT TOP MODEL' fierce-as Auckland auditions were held over the weekend. Actually, to be honest... they weren't fierce at all. I was a little surprised at the almost non-emotional day. I guess it was due to the set criteria - the girls either get a straight 'No' or a 'Maybe' - so realistically speaking, there is nothing to sing and dance about!
I wanted to see some intense tears, or high-pitched glass shattering screaming... or a proud parent getting all up in a judge's grill... none of that, did I see. BUT, I was lucky enough to sit in on two auditions and two interviews!
Here is some advice from the Judges below...
COUP DE MAIN: What are FIVE things you look for in a potential model... 'NZNTM' JUDGES: - Height
- Bone structure - Personality - X-Factor - Teeth "To listen, is important. If they can't take direction, they are only going to be 'one' job." CDM: Do you have any advice as to what they should wear, or how they should present themselves? JUDGES: We get asked that a lot, but we can see through that. Sometimes girls will come in wearing what they think we want them to wear. If it's going to make them uncomfortable, or give them a poor account of themselves, they're actually better off coming in wearing something they feel good about themselves in. We can say - take your jacket off, or look you can't actually walk in those heels - good on you for trying, but take them off. We will teach you how to walk in high heels. - Simple is always good. - Blue jeans and a black or white top. CDM: Do you have any advice for the other girls across the country? JUDGES: Just come along, we're not mean. It's not hard to do. If they have an inkling they would be interested, they should just come along. It's a fun process, there is no downside.
