| 'THE HILLS' - our favourite WTF moments |

 Love it or hate it, you’ve got to hand it to MTV’s 'THE HILLS'. As a key player in the reality TV scene since 2005, the producers and cast of 'The Hills' have made watching other people stare at each other as they push food around their plates in a trendy Los Angeles restaurant, as exciting as what I can only imagine watching the Moon-landing was like. Because, hidden amongst the ceiling stares of Audrina Patridge, the plastic-fantastic Heidi Montag, and the eye-candy of Brody Jenner, there are moments of sheer brilliance - that scripted or not - will forever be a part of television history. Throughout the previous five seasons, Lauren, Audrina, Lo, Brody, Heidi, Kristen... they’ve all become staples in my television viewing and despite the odd looks, the sighs, and the "I don't understand how you can watch this trash when you like other, more intelligent, television" comments from friends, I eagerly await a new episode like a long-lost friend is coming to visit. Hell, I like the show so much it even inspired a ‘Hills’ day in which a friend and I drove back and forth across Los Angeles with google maps in hand, trying to catch a glimpse of all the sites we’ve seen on the show. From Lauren and Heidi lining up to get into clubs in Season One, to the plastic-fantastic transformation of Miss Heidi Montag, and the on-screen drama between Kristen Cavallari and, well, almost everyone... 'The Hills' is undeniably some of the most awesomely trashy and seriously addictive television to grace our screens. Before the sixth and final season begins on MTV NZ on June 16th at 9.30PM, here are just a few of my favourite must-see “WTF” 'Hills moments... Jen hooks up with Brody (Season 2, Episode 7) WTF moment: Lauren throws a 21st birthday party for Jen Bunney, her best friend since elementary school. Lauren gives Jen a diamond bracelet, and Jen returns the favour by hooking up with Lauren’s ex, Brody Jenner. Awesome. By the way, this is the same Jen Bunney that apparently is making a new reality show with Heidi later this year. You Know What You Did (Season 3, Episode 1) WTF moment: Perhaps one of the most quotable and memorable scenes in 'Hills history: what makes better television than the two leading ladies and former best friends having a screaming match in a packed L.A. nightclub, over sex tape rumours?? Nothing. Forgive You, Forget You (Season 3, Episode 14) OMG: After weeks of fighting with each other, Heidi and Lauren finally got together to talk out their problems, resulting in yet another line too good to be unscripted: “I want to forgive you, and I want to forget you". You Kissed Another Girl... (Season 3, Episode 16) WTF moment: Audrina’s greasy-haired and unofficial boyfriend Justin Bobby kisses another girl, like right in front of Audrina. And then they talk it out behind a trash dumpster at 2AM, leaving their friends waiting in the carpark, only to drive off together. It’s what anyone would do, right? Don’t Act Innocent (Season Four, Episode Eight) WTF moment: Before Lauren and Stephanie Pratt become friends, Stephanie decides to low-key go on a few dates with the boy Lauren just stopped seeing. Oh yeah, and she then lies about it despite their being overwhelming evidence to suggest otherwise. Also, Paris Hilton's boyfriend to be - Doug - jumps into his pool totally saturating Lauren and Whitney. Their look of absolute horror, and Whitney's: “I don’t even know you, but I don’t want to” line, makes it one awkwardly awesome episode. Mr. and Mrs. Pratt (Season 5, Episode 10) WTF moment: Heidi and Spencer get married, Lauren leaves the show, and Kristen Cavallari makes her comeback. How could anything go wrong? Crystals Make The World Go Round (Season 6, Episode 2) WTF moment: Yes, I know this episode hasn’t aired in New Zealand yet, but when I saw Joel McHale on The Soup show clips of Spencer Pratt holding crystals to his forehead and offer up an old feather to his friend Charlie, automatically I knew this was going to quite possibly be the best episode of 'The Hills' ever. 'THE HILLS' - SEASON 6 Premieres Wednesday 16th June at 9:30PM. The phenomenon that is ‘The Hills’ is almost over, but it won’t be leaving our screens without a bang! Yes the girls are back and the drama heats up this season which will be the last ever. Revelations of drug use, loves lost (and found), growing up in LA, and of course, the new and ‘improved’ Heidi and Spencer are all coming back for our viewing indulgence. Catch all of the drama in the final season on Wednesday 16th June at 9:30pm. 'THE CITY' - SEASON 2 Premieres Wednesday 16th June at 10PM. Following ‘The Hills’ each week is season two of ‘The City’ where ex-Hills star Whitney Port is venturing into unknown waters with her fashion line, but Olivia Palermo has somehow weaseled herself into a position that gives her some authority as the face of Elle.com. Will Olivia use her newfound influence to kill Whitney’s chances of being a successful clothing designer? Support Whitney in her quest on Wednesday 16th June at 10PM. |
