More of the same really. Actually that’s probably judging it a bit harshly. My last 2 nights in London were cool. Very cool actually. So cool in fact that Alex Kapranos went; ‘alright mate, calm it down a bit’. Drinks in Camden Town, watching either Catholics or Protestants (no offence intended, it’s hard to tell the difference sometimes), go on a night march through the streets; in a bar so cool they had run out of Cider. Then on my last night, a mosey on down to Brick Lane. Hanging out in the Truman Brewery, which is probably the trendiest place in the entire world. I had a delicious BBQ grilled chicken burger for dinner, with wedges that were literally giant potatoes cut into quarters - long-ways. Followed by the biggest piece of chocolate cake I have ever seen, because the lady behind the counter couldn’t be bothered getting a knife to cut it smaller. All this was fair trade and organic, natch. (Except for maybe the Magners Pear Cider, but I will happily sacrifice a bit of environment for that stuff). Also, upstairs is a room full of couches and tables where bands play for free, and this room leads on to a gallery for up and coming artists to show their work. Seriously. They need to invent a new slang word for this place, because it is beyond ‘cool’. Then to finish the night off, I went into Piccadilly Circus and played arcade games until 1AM at a proper Funtime arcade place, where you win tickets to swap for toys and junk. We combined as a team and won enough tickets to get sweet Ben 10 dolls and a table tennis set. It was all fun and games until the 4AM wake-up and walk to the train station. Although falling asleep on a high speed train in London, to wake up disorientated in Paris is quite fun in itself. So well done London, you didn’t suck too bad after all. |
