This dude is my favourite musician next to Ryan Adams... Justin Townes Earle ya'll! His music is amazing, live - it’s incredible. I got to see him on Saturday at Bar Bodega playing solo just with his lone guitar, it’s all he needed. I found myself fixated on his guitar, the way he strummed and picked it while floating around the stage hunched over and slamming his heel made me fall in love. If you're into the country-folk sound, JTE is someone you need to know. I've got the post gig obsessions with Justin Townes Earle, and it's here to stay for a wee while yet. I know you can't deny that feeling you get when you hear a little bit of country music. Your foot starts to tap, your head starts to bob, till you catch your reflection in something and suddenly snap out of it and try to act as like it didn't happen. I met someone today who told me that everyone likes country music, but we're all too afraid to admit it. He then told me, that the day he admitted that he did, in a AA class he added (yes, alcoholic anonymous) "Hi, I'm an alcoholic, and I like country music" that he felt liberated. No lie. I must admit I'm still a little confused how the two go together. But, it is so true! There's no shame in it. |
