Popular NZ Penguins
FriYAY you ask? Yes Fri-yay because we have gotten so many presents today it's been a rather fun sort of Friday. A rap-less version of Justin Bieber's 'Baby' (saved into iTunes as "NO RAPPING YAYYYY!!!!!") and an advance of the new New Young Pony Club album, are today's favourite musical gifts.

Record companies however, could totally take a page out of book publishers and GIFT WRAP! Look at the bundle of cute-ness sent our way from Penguin - THANKS! XOXO Penguin are releasing eight NEW ZEALAND Popular Penguin titles on March 1st - so make sure to look out for them. Gotta catch 'em all...

" You recently put a call out for real-life love stories on your website. Are you a total romantic?
Yeah, I am. I think that’s what I look for in everything: in a photograph, in a building, in people. To me, the truest example of love that I think I’ve ever seen in my life is my nana and granddad. They’ve got all these really beautiful pictures of when they were young, like ‘30s photographs, and they looked really fun as a couple. I have issues with society and what we’re told that we’re supposed to feel about love and sex and relationships. Not all of us do feel that, and I think it can instill the wrong ideals within young people, because you feel like you have to be looking for something really lusty and exciting all the time. "

KATE NASH to NYLON MAGAZINE.

P.S. I have an unhealthy obsession with this Passion Pit remix... Oh, Ellie Goulding!

Well, I would have - had I actually done more than one journalism paper during my University degree. The following's also a sneak glimpse at what you can expect from our PASSION PIT interview... I'm beginning work on writing our interview with The Horrors asap this week!

Florence + Sha LISTENING TO: 'Hospital Beds' - FLORENCE + THE MACHINE, 'Between Two Lungs' - FLORENCE + THE MACHINE, 'You've Got The Love' - FLORENCE + THE MACHINE, 'VCR' - THE XX, 'Bad Kids' - BLACK LIPS, 'Stronger (Back On The Ground)' - NICK JONAS & THE ADMINISTRATION.

YOU FEEL THE SAME WAY I DO, IF YOU... (three hours of sleep aside) had the perfect Florence+TheMachine-filled Monday and are certain that Florence Welch is officially your favouritest person in the whole entire world. We interviewed and photoshoot-ed Florence late afternoon - can't wait for you to all see the photos - she loved the photoshoot theme and was super giggly and cute. Did I mention that she loves trees? AND uses the word 'magical' commonly in conversation. Making my Friday even better - backstage security for the Tyler Street Stage told me that I was the most well-behaved person backstage at Laneway Festival - therefore letting me watch all of Florence + The Machine's set from side of stage. OH SWOON. Words cannot even describe. Everyone has been saying that she was definitely one of the best live performances they've ever seen - but my brain hasn't quite processed my Monday yet. I'm sure it will sink in eventually and I'll start freaking out. In the mean-time, here's a sneak peek at what you can expect since you have a bit of a wait - Big Day Out interviews are what I'll be working on first, when I return from annual leave.

P.S. CAN I PRETTY PLEASEEE PLEEAAASEEEE BE FLORENCE WELCH WHEN I GROW UP?!!

Alice In Wonderland press kit

My favourite press kit of 2009 was undoubtedly 'Where The Wild Things Are'. Now, it's only January - but I'm pretty sure that the 'Alice In Wonderland' press kit I just received, takes the cake for 2010.

I wish you could see it - actually amazing. Each book is hollowed out, so there's basically four books all within each other, with a key at the centre. So very, very impressive. But I guess - would you expect any less from a Tim Burton film?!! 'Alice In Wonderland' is in cinemas from March 4th!

Big Day Out polaroid photos

LISTENING TO: 'July, July!' - THE DECEMBERISTS & 'Sleepyhead' - PASSION PIT.
YOU FEEL THE SAME WAY I DO, IF YOU... wonder what it would be like if Polaroid Photos could speak? What amazing stories they would have to tell! Pretty sure I am the happiest girl alive. Most amazing adventures ever, yesterday! Highlights of the day include Passion Pit singing me some Miley Cyrus and The Decemberists writing and illustrating us a picture book. You may be pleased to know that I can actually run faster than I thought and I totally made it in time to watch at least half of Passion Pit's set. Didn't get much of a chance to watch many bands during the day due to scheduled interviews - but caught The Temper Trap, Passion Pit, Eskimo Joe, Jet, The Decemberists, Devendra Banhart (The Grogs), Dizzee Rascal, Lily Allen, The Mars Volta & Muse. How were The Horrors, Ladyhawke and Kasabian?

P.S. If you see me at Big Day Out tomorrow and we don't have any kind of sensible conversation... Please, do not be offended. I will be practicing athletics all day until at least 5PM, i.e. sprinting. I don't even like sports... But I do! Like you. Just running and talking don't go very well in my world. Note to self: Please remember to eat some kind of food tomorrow. Apparently running, requires energy.
