The Week That Was
The Week That Was

The week started out bad for serious gamers, when Electronic Arts announced that they would be releasing the upcoming Battlefield: Bad Company 2 multiplayer beta exclusively on the PlayStation 3.  Xbox 360 junkies – the true gamers – would have to wait till next year for a demo, and the full release to tastes the multiplayer goodness.

Christian Del Amo found out the hard way how easy it is to follow an online paper trail, especially when you’re trying to sell pirated copies of the years biggest game, a week before it’s released, via your facebook account. You’d think a hacker clever enough to get his hand on an early copy of the game and figure out how to break the code, would know how to set up a bogus online identity.

Talking of the biggest game of the year, the team at GameGuide decided we would make some prediction on the eve of 'Modern Warfare 2' being released.  Many of us regretted saying the things we did shortly after the game was released.

Trying extra hard not to let 'Modern Warfare 2' have all the glory last week, Electronic Arts announced to the gaming world that it was going to revitalise’ it’s forgotten World War Two shooter series, 'Medal of Honour'.  No word on whether they would stick to the tried and tested era of the Second World War, or try the more popular route of killing innocent civilians.

Not to be out done by all the war themed games, or by all of their own announcements, Electronic Arts announced that they were going to open the gates of hell, for free.  But you’ll have to endure the real hell – Christmas shopping – before you get to taste virtual hell when the demo is released early February.

And back to THAT game, 'Modern Warfare' managed to smash all records in the entertainment industry by selling 7 Million games on it’s first day of release, proving that the recession was only a figment of our imagination.

Of course not everyone was happy with the new 'Modern Warfare' game, some made fun of it, whilst others were left scratching there heads over it’s extremely complex plot.

And finally, just to give the week some balance, after being over saturated by 'Modern Warfare 2' news, the wonderful people at Madman asked us to give away a copy of 'Disney’s Sing It Pop Hits'.  Usually we’d say no, we would rather keep a game then give it away, but because it featured the likes of Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus, we wee more than happy to give some one else the chance to take it home.
