 Just in case you had any notions of the THE NAKED AND FAMOUS being smart, culturally interested artists... we're just geeks who can use software. Our real passion, lies in games. It's late - we've just gotten back from rehearsing a new set for our upcoming tour with Kids Of 88 and Computers Want Me Dead. We also tried out some parts for a couple of last minute recordings we're doing for our debut album, which will be out late July (by the way, this is a promotional paragraph). ANYWAY, so it's been a productive night. We've got some radio interviews to do tomorrow morning for our latest single 'Young Blood' - (promotion) - and what better way to prepare, than to play 'Killing Floor'. Basically, 'Killing Floor' is the epitome of mindless, violent, worryingly addictive gaming. There's no point. No story. No pretence... and no need to apply your brain! You just point the desired gun at the closest monster and decide where you'd like to shoot it. Generally, crossbows to the head are the most effective, although it's a hard gun to use as you have to look through the scope. It'll kill anything but Flesh Pounders, in a single shot. Even scrakes! OH MAN aren't scrakes just the most annoying?! It's like, just when you think you've got all the guns you want, your armour is at 100%, you've almost got enough cash to buy something like the AA12 automatic shotgun and start levelling up your 'support specialist' perk - (where you can get 30% more damage using shotguns) - and one of those motherfuckers decided he's going to run at you with his FUCKING CHAINSAW ARM. Then you start stressing out and actually bother pressing the 'talk to team' button - so you can inform the five other fourteen year olds playing at 3AM somewhere in the U.S.A. - "FUCK!" (pause - presses button again) "eugh." That's half the fun too. Going online as Team TNAF (that's right) and listening to Tool fans stress out about how: "IT'S NOT METAL IT'S ALTERNATIVE MAN! YOU FAGGOT. I BET YOU LISTEN TO RAP. CAN'T SPELL CRAP WITHOUT RAP! KAYNE WEST?! YOU CAN'T TELL ME THAT'S MUSIC!" Sometimes when you laugh too hard at them, they start crying. The best thing, is when Alisa presses the 'talk to team' button - all the characters stop shooting and freeze... a girl's voice while they're playing games: bit much. Sometimes we play smart games though. Like 'Portal'. I hope the guys from Kids Of 88 and Computers Want Me Dead like games. Then we can have a massive lame band gaming party. Pretty keen. We've even got a song tucked away titled 'Zombies', that we've written solely to be synced to a zombie game. THE NAKED AND FAMOUS, KIDS OF 88 and COMPUTERS WANT ME DEAD play Wellington (San Francisco Bath House, 26th May) and Auckland (Kings Arms, 28th May), this week.
