 Twenty-four-year-old MICHAEL JOHNSTON is an UK illustrator with a H&M day-job, who devotes his time to freelance illustration, design jobs, and sketching in his spare time. Of his drawings, Johnston says: "I have such a passion for illustration; it occupies all of my days. I carry a sketchbook with me everywhere and am constantly doodling and sketching. My work is inspired by many things, my day-to-day life, the people I see on my travels, conversations with friends and other design. Two major inspirations in my work are music and fashion, for me life without music is like life without a sketchbook and pen, and it’s often when I am listening to the lyrics of songs that I will get ideas for new illustrations. Current fashion trends usually tend to creep into my work too as I love fashion and always want my work to remain fresh and with the times." Johnston's sketches are influenced by everything from Marina And The Diamonds to Boys Like Girls, to Lady Gaga and the musical 'Wicked'! I am super in love with all of his sketches based on the lyrics of pop songs - he ought to be designing merchandise for bands!            |
