Sometimes life is just too rock n' roll (I don't really speak from personal experience). I've noticed as I am kicking back Summer holiday style, I heart embracing my inner Nana. Here are my current favourite Nana-ish things and things to do.

READING (or looking at pretty pictures):
I love books. But forget Nana's old smelly books. I can only speak from as an Auckland libraries goer, but the Auckland libraries are magical at keeping up-to-date with new awesome books. Secondly, for book purchasing purposes, nothing beats Book Depository. All the books you could want, cheap as chips, and no postage charges.

On my reading list at the moment:

CRAFTS:
Completely separate from Victoria n' Bird I like to sew pointless things. One of my favourites is customised dolls using the Black Apple Tutorial. Friend and celeb look-a-likes make cute gifts. Guy Sebastian made the cut this time as Coup De Main's top styled male of 2010. I also get the feeling Nana's would quite like Guy Sebastian.

HIGH TEA:
Tea and scones are Nana territory no more. There are places offering high tea all over the place now-a-days from small cafes to major tourist points. My absolute favourite is Afternoon Tea at The Langham in Auckland. Yum!

HEALTHY SNACKS:
To counteract the indulgence of high tea (Nana would be proud), here are my top two super easy healthy snacks... which on occasion have been known to be consumed as main meals.
Blueberry banana smoothie - as simple as it sounds, blended banana, blueberries (frozen are a-okay), honey and milk.
Salsa - my recipe is basically finely chopped tomato, red onion and garlic with some lemon juice, salt and pepper and optional basil and/or coriander. Bust out some corn chips and go nuts.

We also can't forget our old friends naps, vases of freshly cut flowers, and cardis.
