| Is that an OCTOPUS CHAIR, you say? |

Imagine walking into an office and this being the very first thing that you see...
For Spanish artist MAXIMO RIERA, the sight of the 'OCTOPUS CHAIR' is a familiar one. Riera is an artist who dabbles in all areas of creativity (photography to painting to poetry), and is now using his sculpture brilliance to combine mundane objects into art. Creating aesthetically pleasing pieces that also become a sculpture experience, Riera successfully creates a relationship between the environment, the observer and the object, all whilst playing homage to the beauty of nature and especially, the animal kingdom.
The 'Octopus Chair' is just one edition in a larger collection entitled 'Animal Chairs' by Maximo Riera. The project consists of more than fifteen pieces with an assortment of species spanning from mammals to reptiles to insects - including a Beetle, Whale, Walrus, and more. Although furniture design is predominantly embraced and accepted in European countries, I think it's about time the rest of us delved into the idea of bringing art into the home, and creating our own home-type-galleries. This Octopus chair is by far one of the most striking pieces of furniture I have ever seen. I can't wait for the rest of the series to be released...
