So I’m not much of a gamer, but possessing a slight addictive personality; I stumbled across my flatmate playing the absurd Plants vs Zombies game... I had to check it out for myself.

For both PC and Mac users PopCap Games presents a simple slice of entertainment in which they have explored every ridiculous avenue they possibly could... to the extreme. And the results? A hilariously addictive way to kill some precious time!

Plants vs Zombies

The basic plot entails defending your front yard from a mass invasion of a zombie clan. Earning ‘sun points’ allows you buy and deposit a fusillade of plants that include pea shooters, Venus zombie traps and spewing ‘shrooms among others.

The progression of difficulty is so satisfying, you just keep playing to find out what the next nutty character or whacked out plant they created is.

An almost overwhelming army of saggy handed zombies then saunter onto your lawn. Zombies including Scuba Zombies, Granddad Zombie, Athlete zombies... oh and I can’t forget the Michael Jackson Zombie! That’s right, complete with his four back up dancers, I swear they’re even doing the Thriller routine! It all just gets rather hectic.

The game itself is pretty much insane; I spent the whole time trying to clicking my way through the pure pandemonium needed to keep from getting my brains devoured by psycho zombs! I loved it, go download it now, yep that’s right there’s a free trial!

It has subtly become a small cult as PopCap released a small set of YouTube videos including a sing-a-long theme song and clips of real life re-enactments of our favourite Zombies from the game doing regular every day human doings. They’ve attracted quite a following.

Might I perhaps suggest a sequel of Ninjas vs Kitchen Utensils or Pirates vs Domokun!
