In conjunction with Melbourne Spring Fashion Week, Melbourne based fashion store 'Fat' launched a series of events throughout the course of the week entitled ‘Fat Loves’. On Thursday the 3rd September, Fat presented a show titled, ‘Survival of the Fittest’.
'Survival of the fittest ' was a complimentary, Limited Edition T-shirt exhibition/party featuring designs by PAM, Friedrich Gray, Reiss Radvanyi, Dress Up, Claude Maus, Carly Hunter, Alpha60, TV, Beat Poet, Birthday Suit, Therese Rawsthorne, Dylan Martorell. FFIXXED, Tim Hillier, Andrew Liversidge, Jen Berean and Rob Mcleish.
I was luckily enough to attend and be inspired by some of the works of my favourite t-shirt labels, while sinking a few brewskies at the same time. The line up looked nothing short of amazing on paper. From well known International labels to underground names big and bigger Like 'PAM' or 'Claude Maus' there was definitely diversity in the range which I loved!
The vibe in the place was energetic and chatty, although for a moment it seemed like more people were immersed in the free beer than the unique, yet cluttered collection of limited edition t-shirts. The room was also seeminly overblown with potential pretentious people from the “fashion business”, which I didn’t mind at all. It was a great place to meet like minded people and make a few contacts on the way while spreading the word on the street on cool websites, such as CDM. Which received good feedback but had people questioning if I were an Australian or Kiwi…Accent comes and goes?? Visual Merchandising of the place was sick, so innovative, I especially loved the black thick ropes hanging from the ceiling used as hangers!
I have got some more cool events/photos coming up, so stay tuned. One involving a kiwi band or musician starting with the letter “S”... Catch y'all on the flippy!
