Actress ANNA KENDRICK is perhaps best known for her role as Jessica Stanley in the 'TWILIGHT SAGA', Natalie Keener from 'UP IN THE AIR' - a film directed by Jason Reitman ('JUNO' and 'THANK YOU FOR SMOKING') alongside George Clooney - and more recently 'SCOTT PILGRIM VS THE WORLD' with Michael Cera.
She's also a Tony Award (third youngest ever at the age of 12), Screen Actors Guild, BAFTA Golden Globe, Independent Spirit and Academy Award nominee to name a few.
She's no stranger to the red carpet... and many-a-red-carpets means many-a-designer-gowns! Let's take a look at some of her most memorable outfits and see what she's most comfortable in, on and off the red carpet...
HER STYLE (ON DUTY): When making her red carpet appearances, Anna always dresses up for the occasion, generally in something classy, but something that still embodies a young and fresh quality. She often opts for a short dress with either a single shoulder, or that's strapless. I find she also favours a light neutral palette of ivories, off-whites and blush tones like a dusty-pink-rose that are full of texture - from layering and embroidered fabrics to feminine draping. Observe. Off-white delight:
Yes. She looks amazing!!!! This is Anna Kendrick at the Golden Globes in this MARCHESA (love love love) off-white tuelle column gown with delicate silver embroidery and a dramatic ruffle from the shoulder all the way down to the chest. It shows off her hourglass figure and there's even a small fish tail. She's pulls the look off with CARTIER earrings and a JUDITH LIEBER art deco clutch. Stunning.
Clockwise top left to right: Anna Kendrick at the 2010 Glamour Magazine's Women of the Year Awards in London wearing a long-sleeved, gold threaded, off-white mini-dress; J.MENDEL strapless frock with JIMMY CHOO sandals; GIANFRANCO FERRE silk organza top with matching skirt; ELIE SAAB cocktail dress with a lace neck, chiffon bodice with rosette appliques and heavy feathered detailed skirt. Dusty pink-rose:
Here she is in another ELIE SAAB, this time, at the Oscars. Hot off the Paris Haute Couture runway to the red carpet, is this hand-draped-to-perfection column gown where the thigh-high slit is lined with lace.
One of my favourite outfits Anna has worn, has to be this MARCHESA dress on the left which she's paired with a pair of LOUBOUTINS and NEIL LANE jewellery. The colour actually makes her fair skin look creamy and the cut accentuates in all the right places. Plus, it's a mix of elegance and fun! The dress on the right is a tiered strapless PAULE KA cocktail dress. I think the dress is cute and I love the colour scheme but I don't love it with the black opaque stockings with black peep-toe heels. Playful prints:
These are definitely a contrast to her usual tones. EMILIO PUCCI is definitely one designer that stands out and here, Anna shows that she's brave enough to branch out and try new colours. The yellow multi-tiered dress and the blue Pucci-print dress are fun and vibrant which is a nice change for her. Bringing back the black:
The little black dress is always a safe option. However, when it comes to the red carpet it's got to be one hell of a black dress for you to stand out from the crowd!
ELIE SAAB delivers another winning look for Anna - a black knit backless gown with a mermaid tail which makes her go from fun and sassy to romantic and chic.
"I always opt for short dresses - I'll always go shorter rather than longer." - ANNA KENDRICK HER STYLE (OFF DUTY): Plain t-shirts, blue skinny jeans, CONVERSE Chuck Taylors, aviator sunglasses with a less dramatic tear-drop lens, front zipped jackets and hoodies, bomber jackets and a trusty leather satchel.
This is Anna off the red carpet. She keeps things casual and the key here is comfort. We love that she knows how to dress for every occasion! |
