We came. We saw. They conquered. NOM* D 'Danse Macabre' was by far the most non-traditional fashion show I attended at New Zealand Fashion Week 2010. All the glory goes to their unique efforts in producing an experience for their guests.
In this day and age, a brand is not only a name, but an experience. It has the power to exude a certain personality that the customer can identify with and relate to. That's why I loved the NOM*D show so much!
The installation had a few bizarre set ups; the elevated dining table, the old wrecked dingy, and the villainous vintage bed. Whilst one girl deviously confessed en français in a monotone manner, the dining table was enriched with unorthodox laughter and mischievous behavior by a sinister clique.
Favourite Piece: Plaid tailed shirt-dress with grey-marle knit sleeves. Best Part Of The Show: Atop the wrecked car stands a model Rebekah Davies - she sings in a very ethereal manner and yet she seams staunch in her outfit, pose and 'Journey'. Worst Part Of Show: Not being able to see anything through all the heads. Wild Moment: Not having a conventional runway, instead creating a set and making the models play out a skit featuring three acts with Virgin girls reading in French to a table of tainted youth - smoking, pashing and fighting. This show took me to a place... A completely original place, unaffected by the ever changing fads of the fashion world. True to their trade styling, yet completely fresh.
