Here's the Coup De Main guide to our Top Five favourite characters in WES ANDERSON's new film, 'MOONRISE KINGDOM'.

Set on an island off the coast of New England in the summer of 1965, MOONRISE KINGDOM tells the story of two twelve-year-olds who fall in love, make a secret pact, and run away together into the wilderness. As various authorities try to hunt them down, a violent storm is brewing off-shore -- and the peaceful island community is turned upside down in more ways than anyone can handle. Bruce Willis plays the local sheriff. Edward Norton is a Khaki Scout troop leader. Bill Murray and Frances McDormand portray the young girl’s parents. The cast also includes Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, and Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward as the boy and girl."

SUZY BISHOP [Kara Hayward]
"This is Suzy Bishop. She likes stories with magical powers in them. From time to time, she goes berserk."

Kara on Suzy: "Sam and Suzy had this very very true love….Being an actor, you don’t necessarily need to have the same life experiences as your character. You just need to pretend to. …Wes did give me a film to watch called “Melody,” which is an English movie. It did provide inspiration to what my character was feeling and make her come to life."

Take me back to 1965 where collared shift dresses were in existence, knee-high socks were a must, and record players were portable necessities! "This is Sam Shakusky. He's a good boy. He's got a good heart. But if you find him, don't forget to bring a weapon."

Jared on Sam: "He [Wes Anderson] had me watch Escape from Alcatraz because I think some of the characters are a bit similar in a sense that Clint Eastwood’s character is also like mine, very resourceful and very capable. To help us get into our characters, he had Kara and I write the letters that you see in the movie, the dear Sam, dear Suzy letters, except he would have us complete them. At first he had us e-mail the letters, but then midway through, he realized it’s probably better to actually have us do real snail mail and write them and send them to each other and that’s what we did and that helped us not only get into our characters and get to know each other, but it also really helped us get into that 1960s vibe."

Sam sticks to his Khaki Scout uniform, not complete without his Coonskin hat, his glasses and scout badges!
