LEWIS WATSON... remember that name.
Having attracted over four million views on YouTube already, Coup De Main recently spoke to the UK singer-songwriter briefly while he was in Australia on a promo visit, to find out more about the nineteen-year-old who only just released his debut EP 'It's Got Four Sad Songs On It BTW' earlier this year in March.
"I used to pray every night for a Pikachu Nintendo 64..."

COUP DE MAIN: What do you hope for people to take away from listening to your music?
LEWIS WATSON: I'd like to think that people can relate to my music, it doesn't have to be the exact subject but maybe the sentiment. If somebody listening to my music feels even an eighth of the emotion I felt when I wrote the song, then I feel like I've succeeded as a songwriter.
CDM: What is your favourite song to play live?
LEWIS: My favourite song to play live is probably 'What About Today?' because it really takes me back to the place I was when I wrote it. It isn't exactly a nice place haha but it's crazy to think that singing a song can help you relive a moment.
CDM: What does your song 'Bones' mean to you personally?
LEWIS: 'Bones' is quite personal to me because I wrote it when I had just got over coming out of a pretty intense relationship. It's written about that very first stage of being with somebody and wanting to do absolutely everything with/for them, something I was really craving at the time haha.
CDM: Lyrically, what's your favourite song that you've written so far?
LEWIS: Probably 'Bones', I always put a lot of time into writing lyrics as I really enjoy listening to lyrically rich music and I think good lyrics add a lot of value to a song. However, I spent quite a long time trying to make the lyrics to 'Bones' as vivid as possible.

CDM: What are your five favourite things in the whole wide world?
LEWIS: Chinese food, the Watson Sunday dinner and film crew, custard, fresh sheets and mayo.
CDM: Tell me something that no-one else knows about you...
LEWIS: Haha, I honestly don't think there's something that nobody knows, I'm quite open about everything. I used to pray every night for a Pikachu Nintendo 64 hahahaha.
CDM: If L.E.W.I.S. W.A.T.S.O.N. was a real-life acronym, what would each letter stand for?
LEWIS: Lewis Expects Women In Socks. Why Are They Sitting On Nylon?

CDM: Are there any specific achievements that you'd like to accomplish before you turn twenty-one?
LEWIS: I've exceeded a lot of my expectations for myself already to be honest, so I'm fairly content. I sold out a headline tour, I've got my music out there, I have a t-shirt with me pulling a silly face on, etc. haha but I'd love to play an arena or something, that'd be incredible.
CDM: What's next for Lewis Watson?
LEWIS: Writing songs, playing songs and just enjoying the ride, I'm on cloud nine right now and feel like the luckiest guy on earth right now :-)
CDM: Can we hope that you'll visit us in New Zealand one day?
LEWIS: I'd LOVE to come over, I'm currently in Australia and I love it here, so I'm sure New Zealand will not disappoint, I'll try to head over ASAP! :-)
