![]() 'Here We Go Again' is your second album: did you find it more difficult or easier to make than your first album 'Don’t Forget'? DEMI LOVATO: I found it a lot easier to make my second album because I had more of an idea of what I wanted to do the second time around, whereas when I made the first record I didn’t quite know what I was doing yet! How do you think the two albums differ from each other? DEMI: I think the first album differs from the second album because like I said, in the first album I didn’t really know what I was doing, and a year later my music sense had changed. So the second album is definitely different as it shows how much I have grown as a musician and a vocalist. Where does your inspiration come from? DEMI: My inspiration mainly comes from most of my fans because they are 100% supportive. But it also comes from experiences that I have been through; heartbreak, falling in love, falling in what I think is love, growing up and being a teenager. What was it like working with John Mayer? DEMI: John Mayer is awesome, he is the funniest dude ever and he really is super talented - so I had a great time working with him. Can you tell us about some of the other people you wrote with on this album and what that experience was like? DEMI: I got to write with Anne Preven who is the songwriter behind 'Torn' - and she was really awesome. She has an incredible vibe to her that is really edgy, but awesome, and she is super talented - she helped me write a lot of songs. I also got to work with an artist called with Jon McLaughlin whose music I love, I was just listening to it as I fell asleep last night. So getting to work with inspirations like them, is incredible and a dream come true. Is there a story behind 'Remember December' that you can tell us about? DEMI: There is definitely a story behind 'Remember December' because December was a month where I fell for somebody. I then sensed a break-up coming on and the song is asking someone to remember when we fell in love back in December, when things were better and not so rocky. Your second album is definitely more rock oriented. Is this the musical style you will pursue in the next albums? DEMI: I feel with the next album I’ll probably put a little more R’n’B into it, as that’s what I grew up listening to and that music, sometimes makes me feel more on an emotional level. Rock music does definitely make me feel on an emotional level but I think I can showcase my voice better whenever I sing R’n’B. So I think the next record will have maybe less rock, but then again - I said that for the second album, so who knows what it will turn out to be! Who are your musical idols? DEMI: Some of my musical idols include definitely Kelly Clarkson, because she is my number 1 idol and she has an incredible voice. And also John Mayer - his lyrics and guitar playing and voice, never cease to impress me. You say one of your current inspirations is Kelly Clarkson; have you met her and are there plans for you to write with her? DEMI: I have met her and she was so down to earth, one of the nicest people ever. I gave her 3 hugs because I was so excited to meet her! I definitely would love to write with her sometime, I think we even talked about it. We have stayed in touch; she is a really sweet girl. So hopefully for the third album, we can work something out - she’s incredible. ![]() How did you discover your passion for music? DEMI: My passion for music came from when I was younger. I would sing around the house, in the shower and things like that. When I stepped on stage for the first time, it was incredible and I knew that was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Last year you headlined your first ever tour, how was that? Do you have plans to tour in Europe? DEMI: It was fantastic, my tour was the funniest Summer I could have ever asked for. My band is incredible too, so we all had a great time just being on the road together. But most importantly, the fans that showed up to the shows completely made my Summer, made my year, made everything worth it - and I couldn’t thank them enough for coming out and seeing us play! There are no plans to tour in Europe as yet, but I hope after this trip we can work something out, because people out here are so incredible and I want to come back as soon as possible! Do you have any special memories from your last visit to Spain and the Spanish fans reactions towards you? DEMI: I would love to go back to Spain. I have been there a few times and the fans are incredible. All the fans in Europe are equally amazing! I can’t wait to go back. One of my favourite memories in Spain was when I was shooting a promo for Disney channel and part of that meant I got to drive around and actually see some of what Spain was like. We were in a vintage Rolls Royce convertible, so it was definitely one of my favourite memories! We know you’re a rock fan, who's your favourite band? DEMI: My favourite band at the moment is called Neon Indian - they are my friend’s band and they’re from Texas. They have a really awesome sound and I can’t get tired of their CD. Who would you like to collaborate with in the future? DEMI: I would love to work with John Mayer again, he was so easy to work with and he was definitely an inspiration to me. I feel like there is so much we could accomplish together, as we worked so well together in the short period of time we had. It’s a shame we only had 2 days (and a few hours each day) to write music. I would also like to work with Justin Timberlake - I think that’s my next goal. He is an incredible musician and so talented. You recently filmed 'Camp Rock 2' - can you tell us a little bit about the storyline behind this film? DEMI: 'Camp Rock 2' is about a rival music/performance camp called Camp Star starting up. This throws Camp Rock for a loop and there is a rivalry between the two, so a big competition is set up and one of them has to be eliminated, so you find out which camp wins! There is a lot of drama, and a lot of romance, music, dancing and singing - so I think people are going to be really excited when they see the film. Did you enjoy filming the sequel and were there any funny moments you can tell us about? DEMI: I really enjoyed doing the sequel and one of the funny things that happened was, Nick and I were doing a scene in front of around 1500 extras and in the scene we were in sitting in seats watching people on the stage. At one point, Nick stood up and there was a coke can on the ground and he kicked it! We were laughing at him which made him then start kicking it again, and he started kicking it really really hard and I guess that the entire audience thought that he was dancing, because they all started applauding. So then we were laughing even harder because all of a sudden 1500 people just started cheering and he was beating up a coke can! That was one of the funniest times! Are you planning to release a third album in the near future, or will you be taking a break from the music to focus on TV/films? DEMI: I think after the third album, I would maybe take a break and work on my acting, but for right now I am really anxious to make a third record. I cannot wait, I love it. I love making music and creating and going on tour with new stuff. Do you have a New Years Resolution? DEMI: I guess I’ve gotta work out more! ![]() |
