 Back in the Summer of 2007, Adam Young recorded a collection of acoustic (all guitar and piano) songs, prior to even beginning to write the synth-pop songs of OWL CITY. Next month (July 27th in the States), those acoustic songs will finally be released as re-polished versions, as a SKY SAILING album entitled 'An Airplane Carried Me To Bed'. Young told MTV News that: "It's a bit ironic in terms of a timeline, because Sky Sailing took on its own form and shape before Owl City was ever conceptualized. A few months after I had recorded them, I started to write synth-pop songs that were different from the acoustic stuff I was doing with Sky Sailing. So it was pretty clear early on that there were going to be two avenues and two projects. I just didn't know if this one would ever be heard. Really, everything that's happened, and is happening, I can't believe it for a second. I never imagined any of my songs would have done what they've done. And I can't tell you what it means for people to want to hear the Sky Sailing songs, either. It's a dream come true. It's a priceless feeling." The next Owl City album is currently in pre-production, and Young has said that fans can expect it "early to mid-December". Young briefly summarised the progress he has made on writing the new album so far to MTV: "This one, it's a little shinier, not quite so organic. ... It's almost airbrushed, and there's a variety of songs. A bit dreamier, the melodies are a bit stronger and more powerful, and the lyrics are a bit wittier.
