![]() My first introduction to Turlock, California six-piece EVALINE was at the Taste Of Chaos music festival in 2007. I had never paid much attention to the band prior to this evening, however, when they took to the stage I was immediately captivated by their eclectic and insanely energetic live performance. I’m talking vocalist Richard Perry running around on stage and jumping up on his keyboard, all whilst holding notes perfectly and entirely energetic. Impressed was an understatement. I needed more. Grabbing their EP ‘Postpartum Modesty. A Portrait of Skin’ - produced by Quinn Allman of The Used - the release showed a young band with a lot of promise. Their catchy hooks intertwined with an intricate balance of melody - instrumentation, and an obvious passion for their music - was refreshing, and I was excited to see where this new-found obsession would go. ![]() So imagine my dismay, when year after year I would visit Evaline's Myspace, hoping, wishing, and begging for any sign that new music was on its way! Surely this band with so much promise couldn’t just fade away into obscurity? Fast forward to March 2010, and after months of alluding to the prospect of new music on their Twitter, ‘Beneath The Fire’ was released. Not only was it a seven minute musical masterpiece, it was a restoration of hope. Evaline are back - and are as strong and passionate as ever. They say good things take time, so I guess awesome things take about three years. Do yourself a favour and check out the video for ‘Beneath The Fire’ below... and be sure to visit their Myspace to hear tracks from their just released EP ‘Patterned'. You can also follow Evaline on Twitter. I promise you, it’s worth it. |
