![]() Avril Lavigne devotees will already be familiar with EVAN TAUBENFELD as her long-time lead guitarist and best friend. Although Taubenfeld left Avril's band in September of 2004 to focus on his own music, he was a key member of her sk8er boi brat-pack, and musical director back in her heyday from 2001. Taubenfeld released his debut album 'Welcome To The Blacklist Club' in May of this year. Of the album, he has said that: "For the first time in my career, I'm not hiding behind anyone else, whether it be as a guitarist or drummer in someone else's band, or being the writer and producer. I've been sitting on the sidelines waiting for this for so long. I'm like that kid on the basketball team who is pretty good but rides the bench the entire season for three years until finally, the coach is like, 'You're in. Don't screw this up.' So Welcome to the Blacklist Club is about me from the first bar to the final note. It's Chapter One of the story of my life." He explains further that the album "is about being a hopeless romantic trapped under a cinnamon-coated shell that is L.A.". Taubenfeld says that: "I think your outside hardens when you live out here. Most people don't express how much they want to fall in love. For me, half the album is about being able to expose that. The other half, on songs like "It's Like That," "Love/Hate," "Better Than You," and "Cheater Of the Year," is more about having fun. Like, 'Come hang out with me. I'm going to take over the world. You're all going to work for me one day but I'll take very good care of you.' That's just my personality." Watch the music video for Evan Taubenfeld's latest single 'Pumpkin Pie' below...
