PART XIV l PART XV

John tracking drums with a strobe light...

GERARD WAY:
Yeah we did, clearly, just jumped the fuck in.

MIKEY WAY: It was like really late at night and the more we were getting into it, the lights just kept... we just kept dimming the lights more and more...

RAY TORO: Oh, yeah.

MIKEY: ...and put a strobe right in. Everybody was pogo-ing.

RAY: Yeah. Our - the drummer who recorded with us - John, we tracked them with a strobe light in that room, turn[ed] off all the lights, put the strobe light on. It's the only way he could play. But that song is great. It's, again like he said, it was that, the only way that song would have worked - the way it does is because we didn't have a rule on what we could write. And, we ended up making a really catchy, hooky, aggressive, loud dance track, you know? And that was [the] only way we could've done it, so...

FRANK IERO: But it sounds like a rock band playing in dance track. Like...

RAY: Oh, yeah...

GERARD: Yes.

FRANK: ...that's part of it, like sometimes you can, like...

RAY: It's so loud. It's one of the loudest.

FRANK: ...can do that.

RAY: Yeah. It's like one of the loudest songs on the record.

GERARD: It has more electronics sound than any song we've ever done. And it still, more, sounds more so like a rock band.
