 PART XXIV l PART XXV Breaking the fourth wall, borrowing from The Sweet, and the perfect end credits movie music... GERARD WAY: And, you know, it's super real in that regard. And that's what... like all right, so if [the] Sex Pistols were singing about what pissed them off, and you know, well - what would piss us off now? We're not pissed at the president. And we're not pissed... we're pissed at this thing constantly coming into our lives and pulling us out creatively from what we want to do, which is to move forward. I don't mind that there's a song on our record about 2019 about something that obviously won't be around in 2019. That doesn't bother me, but it's pure. It's one of the most pure moments on the album. MIKEY WAY: The intro of that song, it's one of like, my favourite things we've ever done in a song. I think it's just a lot of fun. RAY TORO: It looked... GERARD: Yes, that was actually borrowed from The Sweet. RAY: Yeah. GERARD: Sweet. RAY: I love what we were saying the other day too, about like that's like breaking the fourth wall a little bit. One time in the record. GERARD: And that's why I feel, it felt like end credits 'cause it's like: all right, we've been playing around in this world... and then everybody calls each other by [their] name at the end of it. So it's almost like saying: yeah, we still do realize that we're the four guys. And that's what I love about it. It's like saying: we're not taking ourselves so seriously that we have to pretend we're these characters throughout this whole process. And it does break that fourth wall. It is perfect end credits movie music to me.
