Now, don't get me wrong... PATRICK STUMP (the vocals of Fall Out Boy) is one of my life-long loves... but his much-anticipated forthcoming debut solo album isn't exactly shaping up to be what I expected. Stump's solo album is entitled 'Soul Punk' and the man himself initially described it as a "R&B album". I loved the songs that Stump debuted earlier this year at South by Southwest...

But now, in an interview with MTV News, Stump has announced that none of those South by Southwest songs will be on the album - but they "will receive a proper release".

Stump further announced that: "I'll let the label decide what's a single, but 'Spotlight' will be the first Soul Punk song people will hear, and that will happen very soon. In the meantime, I'm happy to let it just be notes on a page. The album should be out in February and as can be inferred from the long delay, it's changed dramatically from the album I alluded to a year ago. As for the delay of the album itself, I'd say it's been less about the music or recording and more about all the other things that finish the thought. I just want to make sure I go to sleep at night knowing I'm not half-assing this."

Earlier this week, Patrick posted two different versions of a new song called 'Spotlight' and asked fans to vote on which version should make the final 'Soul Punk' tracklisting: "I recorded 2 separate versions of Spotlight and after months I still can't decide which one should go on the record. If you've got a minute, please take a listen and let me know which one you prefer. Thanks -Patrick"
