In an interview with BBC Radio 1's 'Newsbeat', ELLIE GOULDING announced that her second album will be "definitely different" to her debut album, 'Lights'.

According to NME, Goulding said that: "I feel like I'll jinx it if I talk about it, but it's definitely different… I've been recording in America. I've been there quite a lot because I've been touring. I'll be back in the UK soon and I'm just looking forward to the new album coming out now."

Previously, Goulding joked with Digital Spy about going emo: "It's started to sound very dark and very weird. This album is going to be even more emotional - I'm all about emo. Captain Emo over here! I wanted to make it so there is hope. I want to make an effect whether it's happy or sad."

Goulding has hinted that her new album will be released before the end of this year, or at the start of 2012. In the meantime, she has been announced as the replacement for Jessie J on leg two of Katy Perry's North American 'California Dreams Tour', which will keep her busy throughout November.
