 On their third visit to our shores, Australian band THE GRATES - Patience Hodgson and John Patterson - supported Modest Mouse at their sold-out Auckland shows. It would have been criminal to let them leave the country without their fair share of cookies and candy, so... Coup De Main to the rescue!    We then invited Patience and John to partake in a friendly bout of Paper/Rock/Scissors - with the winner of each round getting to ask the loser a question - so as to better get to know them both... Then The Grates shared a secret with us... the secret of what their teenage bedroom walls looked like...   ...and then in true Coup De Main ritualistic-tradition, we asked The Grates to jot down a stream of consciousness based upon the starting-word 'rituals'... and then create a candy-sculpture inspired by both of their end-words!
