![]() Los Angeles group EDWARD SHARPE & THE MAGNETIC ZEROS have had a massive injection of fans and media attention lately. I found out about them kinda late in the game, on a trip to the U.S. late last year where their single 'Home' was being played on repeat on seemingly every radio station I listened to. Impressive, especially since no matter how many times I heard it, I didn't get bored. Their brand of danceable indie-folk music was a nice addition to my Big Day Out timetable, however the steady stream of rain which blurred my vision of their performance was not. Needless to say, the band and their fans didn't let a little water dull their spirits, with a non-stop dance-in-the-rain celebration of music kicking off with '40 Day Dream' and ending with 'Home'. ![]() Frontman Alex Ebert's voice was at times lost in the instrumentals - more than likely due to the outdoor setting - however his permanent smile and gushing of thank you's to the audience, showed a man who was truly happy to be playing his first show in our country. However, I couldn't shake the feeling that their set would have been much more magical had it been in the Summer sun, or indoors with a backdrop of fairy-lights... but I guess that means they'll just have to come back! Here's hoping... ![]() Click HERE for more live Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros photos. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
