LCD Soundsystem

Last time LCD SOUNDSYSTEM played in the Boiler Room at Big Day Out, we weren’t graced with the entire band, rather just a DJ-esque set. So to have the full LCD Soundsystem experience, on what appears to be their last tour ever - well who could resist checking them out?! Not us! Plus, keyboardist Nancy Whang is a babe who we had to see in the flesh...

Starting their set a little late, frontman James Murphy apologized for technical difficulties that prohibited them from taking the stage on time. Apologies weren’t needed though, as once they hit the stage (and got through the slowest introduction to a song I’ve ever encountered in the boiler room...) they went from strength to strength, running through songs such as ‘Drunk Girls’, ‘I Can Change’, ‘You Wanted A Hit’, and of course, ‘Daft Punk Is Playing At My House’.

The sound issues from earlier in the day had been resolved, showcasing Murphy’s vocals soaring with the band's tight instrumentals... and their bassist looked like he was on the best vibe of his life, which I couldn’t take my eyes off. Ending with an epic rendition of ‘All My Friends’, their set for me was all a little bitter sweet. The best show I’ve seen of theirs (yes, I’ve only been to two...) and that was all I am ever probably going to get? At least it all ended on a high!
