![]() My Stage 3 experience continued on for one of the highlights of my day - THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM. Thankfully the giant crowd that had gathered for Sum 41 became slightly more manageable, allowing for prime positioning at the front. Opening with ‘High Lonesome’, vocalist/guitarist Brian Fallon squinted out at the crowd and into the steaming sun, joking that his first mistake was not bringing his sunglasses on stage - an issue fixed shortly after, when the band pulled two crowd members on stage during ‘The ’59 Sound’ and a girl gifted her sunglasses to the frontman for a few songs. ![]() It was during this song that I found the atmosphere and true heart of the band were at its best - two fans dancing on-stage with the biggest smiles on their face while the band played their hearts out and everyone in the crowd sung along in unison. It was everything I had hoped for in a 'Gaslight Anthem set, and as they worked their way through some of my own personal favourites such as ‘Great Expectations’ and then ending with ‘The Backseat’, The Gaslight Anthem certainly were the prime example of a no-frills no-nonsense rock band who delivered to the highest of expectations. |
