![]() As I walked up to Stage 5B three-quarters of the way through VEARA's set, I at first felt a little sorry for them. Being scheduled to play at the same time as huge bands such as Pennywise and Slayer meant their audience was pretty small... however as I neared the stage I learned one thing: Veara’s fans are passionate! They sung every word to every song, creating their own mini circle pits and rushing to the front as vocalist Bradley Wyrosdick climbed over the barrier. The enthusiasm from the predominantly male crowd was so great, it felt like the audience was at least twice the size that it was. ![]() Another band playing their first Australian show, Veara were appreciative to be playing to such a dedicated fanbase. Witnessing ‘My B-Side Life’ and set-closer ‘Getting Kicked In The Face Has Never Been So Much Fun’, I couldn’t help but wish I had been able to see their entire set as performance-wise, it was easy to see why the band has received support from scene heavyweights such as A Day To Remember. Drummer Brittany Harrell was especially impressive - for such a small girl she hit that drum kit hard and her drum-stick tricks between hits were spot on. With all the elements needed for a pop-punk or "pop-mosh" band as a sticker on their CD states, as well as a contagious live performance, I definitely expect to see big things come of these guys + girl in the future. |
