![]() MELBOURNE REVIEW / SYDNEY PHOTOS: I absolutely love Northern California pop-punk group SET YOUR GOALS, yet of the three times I’ve seen them live I have always been let down - something was missing from their live sound, yet I could never figure out what it was. When the band took to the stage at Counter Revolution and were faced with one of the largest and most enthusiastic crowds that any of the bands had seen throughout the day so far, I waited with bated breath... could Set Your Goals finally impress me live? The answer: Yes. Admittedly some songs such as ‘Summer Jam’ and ‘Exit Summer’ still seemed to fall flat - the vocals of MATT WILSON were ever so slightly off and the overall energy of the songs didn’t seem to translate as well live as they do on record. However, all concerns and faults were wiped clean off the slate when the band launched into the heavier ‘Gaia Bleeds’, performing it with an elevated energy and spot-on vocals which made the four minutes of the song one of the best moments of the day so far. And of course, the younger girls screamed with glee when All Time Low frontman ALEX GASKARTH appeared on stage to sing Hayley Williams' vocals on the track ‘Few That Remain’, and as the band closed their set with ‘Mutiny’, the audience were definitely pumped up and ready for the rest of the evening. ![]() ♥ Coup De Main hereby awards Set Your Goals with a Counter Revolution...
