SYDNEY REVIEW & PHOTOS:

Californian power-pop band HELLOGOODBYE are somewhat Australian-touring veterans, having first visited in support of The All-American Rejects back in 2006, headlined in 2007, then returned as part of Soundwave Festival in 2009... so on their fourth visit, it was only to be expected that their Counter Revolution set would be nothing short of perfect [if not, literally, too short].

Having never made it to New Zealand yet, this was my first time seeing Hellogoodbye live… and their eight-song set very much lived up to every single one of my high expectations. The band kicked off with 'Would It Kill You?' songs 'Finding Something To Do', 'When We First Kissed' and 'Getting Old', before dipping into their back-catalogue with 'Baby, It's Fact' and a jam-out version of 'Shimmy Shimmy Quarter Turn (Take It Back To Square One)'.

Predictably, Hellogoodbye ended with the much-demanded, 'Here In Your Arms' - much to the delight of everyone present.
