![]() MELBOURNE REVIEW / SYDNEY PHOTOS: Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows a.k.a. D.R.U.G.S., were one of my most highly anticipated acts of the day. Taking the music world by storm earlier this year with the release of their debut album 'D.R.U.G.S.', I'd heard nothing but rave reviews from fans who had witnessed the super-group - Craig Owens formerly of Chiodos, Aaron Stern of Matchbook Romance, Matt Good of From First To Last, Nick Martin of Underminded and Adam Russell of Story Of The Year - in action. As the band took to the stage at Festival Hall launching into 'The Only Thing You Talk About' followed by 'Stop Reading, Star Doing Pushups', the sound from the stage was fairly poor... another band falling victim to the left-hand stage sound curse. Vocalist CRAIG OWENS also seemed to be slightly under the weather, with not only his microphone cutting in and out causing issues, but his vocal ability didn't appear to be as strong as what he's known for. Acquiring Dan Marsala from Story Of The Year to provide guest vocals on 'Laminated E.T Animal' and Telle Smith from The Word Alive for 'Mr Owl At My Metal Worm', the addition of guest-vocals amped up the energy on the tracks, allowing Owens to take a step back. Kudos have to be given to bassist ADAM RUSSELL who gave a high-energy performance running between each side of the stage, despite the fact it was his second set of the day after already performing with Story Of The Year. The group's first single 'Sex Life' received loud applause and dancing, and as the band ended their thirty-minute set with 'If You Think This Song Is About You It Probably Is', the sing-a-longs from their small but enthusiastic audience (many were awaiting the arrival of headliner Panic! At The Disco to take the adjoining stage) were loud and everyone appeared to be having a good time, despite any technical difficulties. ![]() ♥ Coup De Main hereby awards D.R.U.G.S. with a Counter Revolution...
