CHLOE CHAIDEZ. Remember that name. Fifteen-year old Chaidez is the front-girl of up and coming Los Angeles-based band KITTEN. The band have been in the studio recording an EP and the first portion of their debut album with producer Joe Chicarelli (The White Stripes, Counting Crows, U2, The Shins, Radiohead, Elton John, My Morning Jacket, The Strokes) - and if the demos currently floating around on the Internet are anything to go by, fans of the sounds of Emily Haines and Metric, are in for a real treat.
Chaidez herself, has said that she draws inspiration from the likes of Karen O, Bright Eyes, Cat Power, and the Smiths. Watch the below video of Chloe performing an acoustic version of 'Don't Kill The Light' for Everyday Noise's Birdhouse Sessions and FALL IN LOVE with her heart-wrenching vocals...

Converse have hooked up VAMPIRE WEEKEND's Rostam Batmanglij with KID CUDI and BEST COAST's Bethany Cosentino, in the second instalment of their '3 Artists 1 Song' promotion. The new collaboration follows up on 2008's Santigold, Julian Casablancas (of The Strokes) and Pharrell Williams' song 'My Drive Thru'.
Cudi, Batmanglij, and Cosentino's effort is entitled 'All Summer' - and available for free download on the Converse website HERE.
Kid Cudi told Spin magazine that: "When you throw three creative people together it can be tough and nerve-racking to get the artistic gears going. But we ended up vibing really well and I was totally pleased with the end result."

LUCY WOODWARD is back. This time, she's drawn upon her true-blue musical influences - such as "the soulful authenticity of classic jazz, swing, R&B and Latin music" - to give rise to her third studio album, 'Hooked!'. Of her creative re-birth, Woodward states that: "As you get older and make more music, you gain a better understanding of who you are and what you need to feel satisfied. That's what this record is for me."
THE OFFICIAL WORD: "The 12-song album showcases Woodward's engaging, expressive vocals and witty, insightful songwriting on such memorable originals as 'He Got Away,' 'Slow Recovery,' “Babies” and 'Too Much to Live For.' Another highlight is 'Another Woman,' especially written for Lucy by admirer Nellie McKay, who lends her harmony vocals to the track. Woodward's gifts as an interpreter of outside material are showcased on her distinctive readings of such vintage tunes as the obscure Peggy Lee number 'Sans Souci,' Hoagy Carmichael's 1930s pop standard 'Stardust' and 'I Wan'na Be Like You (The Monkey Song),' originally sung by Louis Prima in Disney's The Jungle Book."
YOU WILL LIKE IF YOU LIKE: Diane Birch, Beth Rowley, Coeur De Pirate, The Like, Gold Motel, Bonnie McKee, the film 'An Education'... and driving around slow in Winter with the thermostat set to maximum.

JANINE FOSTER is a magical music-box of New Order, Lady Gaga, and Ladyhawke influences. Having already cast a spell over anyone lucky enough to stumble across her impromptu 'If You're Calling' YouTube video, it's only a matter of time before the rest of the Internet too, falls head over heels.
There's never been a local songbird quite like Foster before. The girl can SING! She likes basketball, painting, supermarket adventures, skateboarding, and surprises... a jumble not unlike the wonder you'll feel when you first hear her live. Which you can - you lucky Aucklanders and Hamiltonians, you - on July 7th at Westfield Albany, July 8th at Sylvia Park, or July 10th at Westfield Chartwell, thanks to Girlfriend magazine and their 'Girlfriend Live!' event.
Something special, something new. Something charming, something due. It's a wonder that the twenty-year-old has flown under the radar for so long. But not anymore. 2010 will, and is, the year of J9. Accio heartstrings! Something fun, this way comes...
