![]() I know that you've already told us once, twice, thrice... that you don't believe in New Zealand Music Month. So this, is a coincidence I swear. Just, timely timing... and no, it doesn't have everything to do with the fact that I am obsessed with owls, either. (I once bought a Hot Chip t-shirt at Big Day Out on a whim, guess what is printed on the shirt?) The most important thing to note here, is that out in the world, there exists a band called GLASS OWLS... and they are my favourite, new band. That they just happen to be New Zealanders, only means that you don't have to fly as far to watch them play live. They're yet to release their debut EP, so I've only heard one song so far, but 'Summer Girl' pretty much had me at hello. Glass Owls are a four-piece from Auckland - Tomas Nelson, Anthony Metcalf, Chris Pearce, Cameron Allan - and describe their sound; "like a careless time traveller accidentally left a vinyl copy of 'Pinkerton' in the 1960's and a college surf band found it and fell in love." YOU WILL LIKE, IF YOU LIKE: Ivy League, Gold Motel, The Apples In Stereo, Artisan Guns, The Living Sisters, She & Him... and outdoor picnics in leafy parks.
