  It's no secret that 50% of all my money is spent on vinyl records; the remainder on band t-shirts and tote bags, my monthly 'Nylon' and 'Alternative Press' magazines... and things; that Sacha would say I-do-not-need, such as a vintage 1987 My Little Pony Princess Sparkle unicorn, or 'Where The Wild Things Are' viewmaster. I also like clubs! I'm far too lazy - not sure that I'm smart enough either - to join a book club, so instead, I AM STARTING A VINYL[!] RECORD CLUB. Every week I am going to share with you a vinyl record that's special to me - and I hope that as time goes by, you too, will also write love letters to your favourite LP's and share them in our C-L-U-B! Although I wouldn't put it forward as my absolute favourite concert of 2010 so far (Taylor Swift and Florence + The Machine are fighting for the cake on that one), I fell so utterly and ridiculously head over heels in love, that in the aftermath of withdrawal symptoms I am so often prone to - instead of eating - I purchased two magazines that Vampire Weekend are on the cover of, last week while in Wellington. It was only a matter of time, before I obtained 'Contra' on vinyl... and dearest Vampire Weekend self-titled album, you will be mine on vinyl too, oh you just wait... I ACQUIRED MINE FROM... Mighty Ape. It was cheaper than JB-HiFi's in-store price and my impatience couldn't be bothered with ordering from anywhere else, when it could be shipped straight away for next-day delivery. The cardboard slip was a little bent in delivery though, so if the Mighty Ape powers-that-be could pretty please package in something more rigid than corrugated cardboard, I would probably order from them again. FORGET ABOUT DOWNLOADING, OR A CD, WHEN... the 'Contra' vinyl is packaged with a large album artwork poster! Everyone needs a vacant blonde staring at you from your bedroom wall, right?
