Ratatat - 'LP4'

When RATATAT announced that the songs on their fourth album - aptly titled 'LP4' - contained tracks which were recorded at the same time as their previous release 'LP3', I was concerned it would just be more of the same. In hindsight, I needn't have been worried.

While 'LP4' retains the key elements of Ratatat that we all know and love - electro-pop meets hip hop meets no vocals - the musical duo from New York have really branched out instrumentally with this release. 'LP4' features instruments such as tribal drums, harpsichords, string quartets, and even an appearance from their pet bird. It may not be "sing-a-long" music (it's tricky, with no vocals) but it’s a solid release from a solid band - and worthy of a listen (and a watch at Big Day Out 2010)!

MUST-LISTEN: 'Drugs', 'Neckbrace', 'Party With Children'.
