#48. FOALS - Total Life Forever ![]() I like that the men of FOALS live in a space that they fondly refer to as the 'House Of Supreme Mathematics'. I also like that the basement of their Oxford dwelling is covered in graffiti and dubbed SPACE. And[!] I really rather like the band's second album entitled 'Total Life Forever' - a far more reflective and mellow outing than the band's debut. Frontman Yannis Philippakis draws upon Futurology inspirations for the lyrics of 'Total Life Forever' songs - the album itself, being named after writings from the 'Theory Of Singularity' by American Futurist Ray Kurzweil - diving into the great unknown of the possibilities of Artificial Intelligence. 'Total Life Forever' is like an exploratory daydream - great the first time, but even better each time you revisit and dive in a little deeper. MUST-LISTEN: 'This Orient', 'Black Gold', '2 Trees', 'Total Life Forever', 'After Glow'. YOU WILL LIKE, IF YOU LIKE: Friendly Fires, Mystery Jets, Two Door Cinema Club, Metronomy, Minus The Bear... and daydreams about the adventures of ocean-dwellers. MUST-WATCH: Foals performing 'This Orient' live for Radio 1's Live in session with Zane Lowe... ![]() |
