#47. THE DAMNED THINGS - Ironiclast ![]() When Keith Buckley from Every Time I Die announced the formation of heavy rock super group THE DAMNED THINGS, automatically I was excited. Made up of members from ETID, Fall Out Boy (but don’t let that fool you) and Anthrax, their debut album ‘Ironiclast’ is a guitar riff driven album with some southern and 80's heavy rock influences, all whilst still maintaining a catchy hook-laden pop sensibility. Joe Trohman and Rob Caggiano definitely showcase their insane talents - and with so many epic guitar solos it’s hard to keep track. If you're an undercover air guitar fanatic, this album is probably best listened to in private. Buckley also impresses with his clean vocals which are a far cry from his Every Time I Die drawl - a nice surprise and a lot easier on the ears than you may expect. ‘Ironiclast’ is an album which will undoubtedly become a fan favourite, and promises a successful career from a band spawned out of a rather unlikely combo of musicians. MUST-LISTEN: 'We’ve Got A Situation Here', 'Grave Robber'. YOU WILL LIKE, IF YOU LIKE: Anthrax, Led Zepplin, Every Time I Die, Terrible Things... and playing air guitar whilst headbanging and wearing plaid shirts. MUST-WATCH: The Damned Things' 'We’ve Got A Situation Here' music video... ![]() |
