Mystery Jets - 'Serotonin'

As I sit here reflecting upon how very brilliant the fourth album from MYSTERY JETS really is, my heart is sinking ever lower and lower at the reality of me being stupid enough to forego Rhythm And Vines this year, meaning that I do not get to see any of the 'Serotonin' album live in 2010... but you could, if you have been smarter about your New Year's plans than I have.

'Serotonin' is one of those ever so rare albums that you can play from start to finish, without any temptation to skip ahead. There are no lulls, there are no dull songs. Frontman Blaine Harrison's bleak lyrics are delivered against a backdrop of animated synth flourishes and doo-wop-ish vocal harmonies - my only complaint is that Mystery Jets have yet to discover the magic of handclaps!

MUST-LISTEN: 'Flash A Hungry Smile', 'Serotonin', 'The Girl Is Gone', 'Lady Grey', 'Show Me The Light'.
YOU WILL LIKE, IF YOU LIKE: The Killers, The Kooks, Editors, Razorlight, Lightspeed Champion... and turning your Gramophone up to its maximum volume.
MUST-WATCH: Mystery Jets performing 'Serotonin' live for Rough Trade's The Serotonin Session...
