Broken Social Scene - 'Forgiveness Rock Record'

It’s been a long five years since Canadian supergroup BROKEN SOCIAL SCENE released their now infamous self-titled album... and because of this wait, expectation was high... and I’ll admit, I didn’t love 'Forgiveness Rock Record' the first time I heard it. But a few spins later, and I knew Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning (together with some of Canada's finest musicians) had stepped it up again for their fourth release, retaining their signature Broken Social Scene styling that fans have grown to love, all whilst adding in some new flavours. ‘Art House Director’ from Apostle Of Hustle’s Andrew Whiteman is upbeat and horn-laden, while ‘Meet Me In The Basement’ is an epic instrumental track, and 'Texico Bitches' makes political statements while at the same time being dance-inspiring.

It also has to be noted that 'Forgiveness Rock Record' is home to the only track in Broken Social Scene history that features Leslie Feist, Amy Millan and Emily Haines, all on the same song ('Sentimental X's'). Let’s just hope it’s not another five year wait for the next installment from the Broken Social Scene collective.

MUST-LISTEN: 'All Is All', 'Texico Bitches', 'Meet Me In The Basement', 'Forced To Love'.
YOU WILL LIKE, IF YOU LIKE: Feist, Apostle Of Hustle, Metric, Beach House... and campfire arts and crafts.
MUST-WATCH: Broken Social Scene performing 'Texico Bitches' live for Q TV...
