You Me At Six - 'Hold Me Down'

YOU ME AT SIX frontman Josh Franceschi can sing. That very fact alone, sets the band leagues apart from their contemporaries. Franceschi also pens insightful lyrics that hit home with his peers - both of the above facts disarmingly showcased on 'Fireworks', the final track of the 'Hold Me Down' album.

'Hold Me Down' is a testament to the band's strengths - they may not be genre pioneers, but they sure do powerpop better than anyone else on their side of the Atlantic. You Me At Six smoothly transition from having "real big plans and such bad thoughts" in opening track dynamo 'The Consequence', to demonstrating harmonic boyband sensibilities à la Jimmy Eat World in the chorus of 'Liquid Confidence'. You Me At Six are definitely keepers, also as evidenced by their high-spirited New Zealand live debut back in September.

MUST-LISTEN: 'Liquid Confidence', 'Playing The Blame Game', 'Safer To Hate Her', 'Fireworks', 'Trophy Eyes'.
YOU WILL LIKE, IF YOU LIKE: Paramore, Kids In Glass Houses, We The Kings, Jimmy Eat World, Canterbury... and a steady diet of Wagamama's and casinos.
