#14. VALENCIA - Dancing With A Ghost ![]() Ask me three months ago if I thought I would love any VALENCIA album as much as I love their debut (‘This Could Be A Possibility’) and I would have told you it wasn’t possible. I would have been wrong. ‘Dancing With A Ghost’ is... simply put, amazing. The title-track and first single is Valencia as we know and love them. Upbeat, happy, pop-py, catchy. However - and I know I’m in the minority here - it’s my least favourite song on the album. On 'Dancing With A Ghost' (the album), Valencia have shown what it’s like to truly grow up. No teen angst, no attention seeking, no gimmicks - just honesty and maturity. ‘Still Need You Around (Lost Without You)’ instantly stands out - it’s full of emotion and passion, with poetic lyrics such as "I’m terrified that this fear exists and I’m scared I’ll come to terms with it, but that’s life..." matched perfectly with the accompanying piano. 'Dancing With A Ghost' definitely showcases a band who have stepped away from their pop-punk roots, experimenting with strings, synths and bigger ballad-esque tracks than ever before, resulting in an album almost anyone could relate too. MUST-LISTEN: 'Consider Me Dead', 'Spinning Out', 'Losing Sleep', 'Still Need You Around (Lost Without You)'. YOU WILL LIKE, IF YOU LIKE: The Starting Line, The Maine, We The Kings, Promise Of Redemption... and pop-rock with meaning. MUST-WATCH: Valencia's 'Dancing With A Ghost' music video... ![]() |
