#10. FOUR YEAR STRONG - Enemy Of The World ![]() When Alternative Press magazine printed the now infamous quote "it must really suck to be Four Year Strong right now" in their review of Set Your Goals' 2009 release 'This Will Be The Death Of Us', I don’t think anyone expected FOUR YEAR STRONG’s response. Not only did they show their sense of humour by naming the opening track of their album after the quote, but they came out with guns blazing and proved Alternative Press (and the rest of the world) that they can do it just as well, if not better, than their tour buddies and genre co-stars. 'Enemy Of The World' is a pop-punk masterpiece which hits harder and stronger than anything they’ve done before. Production wise, it’s a giant leap ahead of their breakout album ‘Rise Or Die Trying’ and musically, it’s everything you love about Four Year Strong just a little more focused and defined. There are gang vocals a-plenty ('Wasting Time (Eternal Summer)', 'Nineteen With Neck Tatz'), breakdowns for you to mosh your heart out to ('It Must Really Suck To Be Four Year Strong Right Now'), and the back and forth vocal dynamic between frontmen Alan Day and Dan O’Connor is flawless. Synth master and sometimes-screamer Josh Lyford holds his own on the album as well ('Tonight We Feel Alive (On A Saturday)') and the drumming of Jake Massucco is the glue which holds it all together, culminating in the epic album closer that is title-track ‘Enemy Of The World'. Back, and better than ever... this is the perfect album full of Summer anthems and feel-good, energy inspiring songs that will remain high in rotation on my personal playlist for a long time to come. MUST-LISTEN: 'Wasting Time (Eternal Summer)', 'One Step At A Time', 'Enemy Of The World', 'Tonight We Feel Alive (On A Saturday)', 'Find My Way Back'. YOU WILL LIKE, IF YOU LIKE: Set Your Goals, New Found Glory, The Wonder Years, Fireworks, A Day To Remember... and moshing in mesh shorts. MUST-WATCH: Four Year Strong's 'Tonight We Feel Alive (On A Saturday)' music video... ![]() |
